The Best of Orlando’s Attractions

Orlando, Florida, is the best city in the United States for family vacations and is a major draw for international visitors. There is nowhere else in the world where families can find such a wide variety of fun things to do together.

The opening of Walt Disney World in 1971 was a watershed moment in the history of Orlando’s tourism industry. Orlando grew rapidly from a sleepy town to a bustling hub of tourism. Orlando is home to numerous offshoots of internationally renowned theme parks like Universal Studios, Sea World, and Wet ‘n Wild. Orlando, because it has everything, may be the primary destination for a short trip. There are over a thousand lakes and many parks in the state’s central region. John F. Kennedy Space Centre is conveniently located near the urban core. Living costs in Orlando are low compared to other major cities like New York, with options ranging from inexpensive motels to luxurious villas at reasonable prices. Because of its southwestern location, Orlando enjoys pleasant temperatures throughout the year. Orlando has been hit by several hurricanes in recent years, but because of its central location in the state and its distance from the coast, the city has largely been spared from the worst of the storms’ devastation.

Maps and current information are available at visitor centres located throughout the city. You can pick up brochures and guidebooks with information on attractions and events at any hotel, restaurant, or visitor’s centre. Discount coupons could be among those.

Florida’s Magic Kingdom

Lake Buena Vista, 35 kilometres southwest of Orlando, is home to this magnificent kingdom. There are four major theme parks in the massive complex: Magic Kingdom, Epcot Centre, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and Disney’s Animal Kingdom. Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach are two water parks that complement these massive amusement areas. Downtown Disney features a wide variety of shops, restaurants, and entertainment options, including theme park rides and shows. La Nouba by Cirque du Soleil is a popular (but pricey) show at Downtown Disney.

In addition to its many attractions, Disney World also features numerous hotels, a campground, a spa, live shows, sporting events, and golf courses. Despite Disney World’s massive size, getting around is simple thanks to the park’s excellent signage, which leads visitors arriving by car to well-organized parking lots from which free shuttles run directly to the parks’ entrances. You can easily find your car in the parking lot because each section is labelled with a different name or colour. The monorail, ferries, and buses are just some of the options for getting from one park to another. There is a visitor centre right next to each park’s entrance where guests can get information about the park’s attractions, shows, and facilities. It is recommended that all adults in the family have their own personal map at all times.

The parks all open at 9:00 a.m., but their closing times vary with the seasons. At certain times of the year, Animal Kingdom opens as early as 8:00 a.m.

Opening and closing times, special performances, pricing and ticket types, park maps (both static and interactive), height and health restrictions, a list of new attractions, and much more can all be found on the official Disney website.
