5 Easy Ways To Ensure Bathroom Cleaning

Your bathroom is undoubtedly one of the most important rooms in the entire house. It also accumulates a lot of traffic throughout the day, which means it is a hotbed for germs, bacteria, and other harmful microbes. So it’s crucial to keep your bathroom as clean as possible, to the point that it looks almost spotless.

However, most people hate cleaning their bathrooms due to the dirt and germs that get collected. Did you know that 52% of Americans dread cleaning their toilets the most? Nevertheless, bathroom hygiene is essential.

  1. Stop moisture

This might sound like a tremendously difficult job, but stopping moisture right in the roots is important. Otherwise, you might get mildew in the curtains and that will be an added hassle.

Hang a squeegee over your shower head. In your house, make it a rule that the last person to take a shower in the bathroom should properly wipe the sides of the tub, the shower door, and the walls. If you live alone, the responsibility will fall on you.

Even if it feels like a lot of extra work, the cleanliness will be worth it. You can even eliminate moisture quickly by opening the bathroom window and switching on the exhaust while showering.

  1. Clean the tiles and countertops

This might seem like an obvious thing but many people all over the world don’t bother to give their bathrooms a thorough cleaning.

Cleaning your bathroom includes the countertops, the wall tiles, and even the ceiling. This is because the soaps, shampoos, and detergents that you use in the bathroom every day tend to leave a biofilm filled with microscopic organisms.

So spray these susceptible areas with an all-purpose cleaner and make sure you target as many open areas as possible. Switch on the hot shower for 20 minutes. Then turn off the water, shut the bathroom door, and let the cleaner and hot vapor mix for some time.

  1. Don’t use bar soaps

Use liquid soap instead of going for the conventional bar ones. Liquid soaps can be poured either into an automatic dispenser or in a jar that comes with a pump.

Eliminating bar soaps will help your countertops stay cleaner and spotless for longer. Moreover, small chunks of bar soap can get stuck to the soap dish or to the bathroom floor.

In the former, the soap dish looks messy and grimy and in the latter case, anyone might slip and fall. If your family has many members, it’s even better to switch to liquid soap because a tiny amount of liquid soap can get you all through for a long time, which is a disadvantage with bar soaps.

  1. Clean the window

Most bathrooms have windows and if your bathroom has one too, it’s important to keep it clean. Not only does a clean window make the bathroom look brighter and tidier but also prevents the entry of germs and other pathogens. In case your window is broken or beyond repair, you can always opt for window glass replacement.

For bathroom windows, you should ideally use frosted glass so that the surface is translucent and hazy. In order to clean your window, spray vinegar all over the glass and let it sit for 5-10 minutes. Next, mix equal parts of baking soda and salt and rub this paste on the glass. Wait for a while and rinse it well.

  1. Wash towels

Many hands and legs use towels all day so it’s important to prevent the build-up of moisture or fungus in them. If your washing machine has a sanitizing setting, use it. Or you can even bleach the towels and replace them with clean ones every three or four days.

After you have washed your towels, spread the wet ones in an open, airy place instead of hanging them from a hook when air cannot circulate and folds can form.

Don’t forget to clean your towel bar too, because even that collects a lot of bacteria. Never hang wet towels near the toilet because then you’ll just be inviting germs.

Over to you…

These are the 5 most important ways to ensure that your bathroom is clean and nobody in the family falls ill. Deep cleaning and regular inspection of the bathroom is a necessity and everyone must try their best to maintain bathroom hygiene all day.
