The Truth About Flavoured Water And Plain Water

Why is it important to take the AMC of your RO Water Purifier

Everyone knows that water is essential to life. After all, the human body is 60% water and experts recommend you drink eight glasses of water a day. In theory, this is easy, but in practice not everyone loves water. That can make it hard to drink eight glasses.

Fortunately, they say variety is the spice of life. There are plenty of flavoured waters on the market. These can make it easier to keep drinking water. But, are flavoured waters the answer? Are they as good for you as plain water?

Understanding Flavoured Water

In most cases, flavoured water is created by infusing the water with fruit. However, in some cases, the flavour is completely artificial. It’s important to know which type you are drinking.

Flavoured water also comes in many forms. For example, it can be sparkling or still, or it can have sugar and other additives to improve flavour.

It’s important to note that if you’re going to drink flavoured water the natural option is the best. You’ll need to read the label as many waters are loaded with sugar or artificial ingredients.

If you need to choose between artificial ingredients and sugar then choose the sugar option. Although not ideal for your health goals, it is generally better than the artificial ingredients.

Plain Water

Plain water is a little misleading as the water you get from your faucet is not plain or pure. It has been treated by your local water treatment centre, ensuring all bacteria and other debris has been removed. However, in the process chemicals have been added. These will adjust the flavour.

Alongside this, plain water can have a variety of minerals in it that aren’t removed at the treatment plant. The most effective way to remove these and the chemicals are by having a reverse osmosis filter fitted at home.

Before you give up on plain water you should try filtered water. It transforms the taste, you will be surprised.

The Bottom Line

There is little doubt that plain water, filtered at home, is the healthiest option for your body. It will help your body function properly, moving nutrients into your cells and helping to remove toxins.

Best of all, if you’ve never tried filtered water at all, then you‘ll be pleasantly impressed by how much difference a simple filter can make.

But, if you really need a little more variety then choose the infused waters. These are effectively water which has had fruit sat in it. You can even replicate this at home by dropping fruit into a bottle of water and letting it sit.

Although artificial flavours are not likely to boost your sugar levels, research is still ongoing regarding the long-term effects of artificial sweeteners. In other words, if you need flavoured water and can’t handle fruit-infused, use the sugared option. But, remember, excess sugar consumption is linked to obesity and an array of diseases. Limiting your intake is a good idea.

Wherever possible, choose the plain water option.
